The Nicole Brown Simpson Conspiracy Theories by Jayla Moon

On October 3rd, 1995, “roughly 100 million people, internationally, stopped whatever they were doing to watch the verdict announcement” of number one suspect Orenthal James Simpson to the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson (“The Salton Sea…”). The young, vibrant, blonde model from Frankfurt, Germany, was brutally murdered outside her beautiful Las Angeles home by who, still to this day, is unidentified. This unsolved case leads to several conspiracy theories to be developed:

1.      Did O.J. Simpson murder Nicole Brown Simpson?

2.      Did O.J. Simpson hire a serial killer, Glen Edward Rogers, to murder Nicole Brown Simpson?

3.      Was Nicole murdered by an unexpected third party source?

Let’s examine Nicole Brown Simpsons personal life, the conspiracy theories of the murder, and the possibilities on who could have really committed this ghastly crime.

Character Analysis

Who was Nicole Brown Simpson? She was a daughter of seven from Germany, but is most commonly known as the wife of famous football player, O.J. Simpson. The move from Frankfurt, Germany, to Garden Grove, California, was no trouble for the vibrant young teen who spent her days at the beach and even made homecoming princess at Dana Hills High School (Nicole Brown Simpson…). After high school, the California lifestyle caught her attention motivating her to become a model and an actress. Imagine a beautiful, glowing, blonde women standing at 5’5’’ with a very slim figure (Golden). Nicole fit the the profile of a perfect wife and friend.

Before the media met Nicole, she was very far from the perfect and well-put-together individual she soon would become. Only a close friends and family knew the young, flawed, and reckless girl. Nicole spent most of her time in night clubs doing “coke and sleeping with good-looking guys” (1). Nicole’s friend, Raye Newman, a self-confessed former drug dealer, described her as a “party animal” who couldn’t control herself (1). She even threw away multiple modeling gigs to become a waitress in her favorite California club. She was on a fast downward spiral, dropping out of college and spending all her money on drugs, until she met O.J., who turned her life upside down.

Once Nicole settled down with her new husband, O.J., and had children, Justin and Sydney Simpson, she became a mature and beautiful woman. To the public eye, Nicole was seen as flawless. Every time she was out strolling the beautiful California streets she was always well put together and very professional. Magazine photographers, news outlets and many other forms of paparazzi were constantly trailing the picture-perfect wife:

Nicole Brown Simpson was reportedly a devoted mother. She eschewed nannies, insisted on taking her children to dance and karate lessons. Always welcomed family into her home for holiday events and birthday parties. Along with her familial duties, Nicole started a small interior decorating business. (Nicole Brown Simpson Biography)

To the naked eye, Nicole may have been perceived as a quintessential spouse with an easy life, but was actually far from it.

Looking deeper into Nicole’s life revealed nothing but chaos and disorder. Although Nicole and her husband, O.J. Simpson, started their lives together with nothing but “endless love” and happiness, their relationship soon took a sharp turn towards disaster. Many of times, Simpson was exposed for being unfaithful with multiple other women. Not only was he disloyal, but also abusive. Nicole’s friends and relatives would recount seeing bruises on her various places of her body. There were several public episodes, “including the 1989 New Year's Eve party in which the former football player allegedly threatened to kill her. He pleaded no contest to spousal battery, but suffered little in the way of consequences” (Nicole Brown Simpson Biography). Nicole faced some internal conflict at this time. She constantly debated within herself over divorcing O.J. With O.J.’s short temper, she feared what could happen to her and, more importantly, her children. After about four years of abuse, the couple divorced in October of 1992 (Rose).

Life after Nicole’s divorce didn’t seem to change the way her family thought it would. Even though the pair was not together legally anymore, they were still seen on dates together, despite O.J.’s relationship with other women. They even vacationed together in Mexico with their children (Rose). According to the New York Times, “Simpson still talked about his ex-wife often, including the possibility of remarrying her” (1). The media called Nicole crazy for wanting anything to do with her disrespectful and violent ex-husband. Nicole experienced external conflict between herself and the outside world. She blatantly disregarded advice from family and media, including close personal friends.

To Nicole’s family members and friends, the idea that O.J. Simpson wasn’t the one who committed the horrendous murder of “the perfect wife and friend” remains inconvincible. Nicole’s very famous friend, Kris Jenner, was never a big fan of O.J. She publically announced that she was always on “Nicole’s side” throughout their entire relationship (Miller). Jenner carries tremendous grief for not being more involved and not realizing the deadly signs. O.J. supporters, children, and friends refuse to believe that a humble guy like him had something so awful in him (1). The controversy and conspiracies will forever continue as the mysterious murder is left unsolved.

Conspiracy Descriptions (Main Idea and Details with Survey Results)

In the mysterious murder case of Nicole Brown Simpson, three conspiracy theories are highlighted. One of those theories suggest that the beautiful model was murdered by her ex-husband, O.J. Simpson. However, the other two conspiracies involve world famous serial killer, Glenn Rodgers and Jason Simpson.

The first conspiracy theory proposes that Nicole was brutally murdered along side a possible new lover, Ron Goldman, by her ex-husband, O.J. Simpson. The once happily married couple in 1985 quickly turned into one of the most public and abusive marriages in celebrity history. However, the couple wasn’t always a disaster. During one of their more favorable times, O.J. gave an emotional speech during their wedding and said to Nicole, “and then you came into my life and you made this house a home, brought my kids in, your brought love into my house” (Spargo). But it didn’t take long for their relationship to take a turn for the worst. O.J. was a very insecure and controlling man. He constantly questioned Nicole actions disregarding his own. “He would beat her and lock her in closets at hotels because she asked where he was at when he was out cheating on her” (1). O.J. felt like he was entitled to anything he wanted, especially other women. Nicole was aware of the affairs O.J. was having but didn’t have the courage to do anything about it. Knowing about the affairs drove her crazy, the root of most of their big fights were because of other women, but he always had an excuse. “O.J. blamed his affair with Tawny Kitaen on the fact that Nicole got fat when she was pregnant and he didn't want to have sex with her” (1). On May 22, 1994, her and O.J. officially spilt. She told her friends it was over for good. Not very long after, she started going out with other guys and living a normal life. Her sister Tanya stated, “I think for the first time in her life she just felt free, like she had just come into that sense of self that she was really ready to do life for her, and her kids” (1). Nicole was murdered 2 months later. Why does O.J. Simpson remain the prime suspect of the murder case of Nicole Brown Simpson? Because of the public, horrible, and constant abuse to Nicole performed by O.J. Along with his aggression, he was sentenced for robbery and kidnapping (Cleary). Despite the fact that Glen Rodger is the one convicted for the murder, many people do not believe the idea because there was absolutely no motive.

The second conspiracy suggests that Glen Edward Rogers killed Nicole Brown Simpson:

Glen Edward Rogers was born July 15, 1962:

He is also known as "The Cross Country Killer" or "The Casanova Killer", is an American serial killer. He was convicted of two murders and is a suspect in several others throughout the United States. Rogers was featured on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list after a crime spree that began on September 28, 1995. (Glen Edward Rogers)

Rogers wrote Simpson’s manger, Norman Pardo, a letter confessing that he was the one who killed Nicole (Cronin). In his letter he states that he couldn’t let Simpsons life be destroyed over something “he didn’t even do” (1). Pardo explains that “he just doesn’t want to die with O.J. getting credit for what he says he did” (1). Although he confessed, this outcome left many of people unsatisfied. There was no motive or purpose behind Rogers killing Nicole. The public started to believe that Simpson paid Rogers to commit the murder since he was already on the death sentence for past crimes. Unfortunately, we will never know if Rogers was the one to kill Nicole, but from background information it seems unlikely.

The last conspiracy points to an unexpected killer, Jason Simpson, son of O.J. Simpson and first wife, Marguerite Simpson. Jason has a past of assaulting people with deadly weapons. It is recorded that Jason assaulted an ex-girlfriend before, almost killed an another girlfriend with a knife and came after his boss with a kitchen knife (Littal). “He was trained in hand-to-hand combat as well as field knife training while attending the Army and Navy Academy” (1). Another factor weighing in was Jason took antipsychotic medication and refused to continue taking them months before Nicole’s murder:

Jason was diagnosed with intermittent rage disorder which is commonly known as jekyll and hyde syndrome. he had been known to blackout, hear voices and just go crazy at any time. He had been committed to the hospital several times. He was given medication to keep it under control, but had stop taking it months before the murders. (1)

While the theory that Jason Simpson killed Nicole is convincing, it still doesn’t provide Jason with a true motive to kill her.

A survey of twenty people reveled 90% agree that the most likely scenario is Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered by aggressive ex-husband Orenthal James Simpson. It seems pretty obvious that Simpson committed the crime despite the confession. The couples past relations proved how uncontrolled Simpson could be towards Nicole. Hopefully, Simpson will reveal the truth about his involvement in the Nicole Brown Simpson case as he sits in jail possibly for next twenty-five years in prison for his previous crimes. Currently, Nicole’s family, friends, and supporters search for evidence to rightly convict O.J. Simpson.

Conclusion

The Nicole Brown Simpson murder case remains one of the most famous and public in history with about “100 million people” constantly following the trial. The thirty-five-year-old’s murder developed into three conspiracies:

1.      Did O.J. Simpson murder Nicole Brown Simpson?

2.      Did O.J. Simpson hire a serial killer, Glen Edward Rogers, to murder Nicole Brown Simpson?

3.      Was Nicole murdered by an unexpected third party source?

Although substantial evidence points to O.J. Simpson as Nicole’s killer, the mystery that took place twenty-two years ago in Brent wood, Los Angeles remains unsolved.
