Hillary Clinton is one of the most well-known
political figures in the United States. Hillary helps run one of the world’s
largest charity organization, known as the Clinton Foundation. As most people
know, there are a lot of questions surrounding the Clintons and their
organization, the Clinton Foundation. One of the many conspiracies that cloud the Clinton Foundation is the
collection of charity money to build a hospital and temporary housing for the
victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. After receiving donations from thousands
of people around the world, the people of Haiti never received the hospital and
temporary housing promised by the Clinton Foundation. Many people believe that
the donation money never even found its way to Haiti, instead it is believed
that the donation money found its way into the Clinton’s pocket. It seems clear
and the evidence shows that the Clintons ended up with a pretty penny after the
ordeal. let’s dive into one of the most corrupt political organizations in the
Unites States and find out what’s happening under the table.
“Hillary Rodham Clinton was born October 26, 1947, in
Chicago, Illinois.” (Caroli) She
is both an American lawyer and politician. she served as a U.S. senator from
2001 to 2009 and secretary of state from 2009 to 2013. (1) She also served as first lady during her husband’s presidency.
recently she was elected to be the Democratic nominee in 2016. (1)
In her early life Hillary grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. She is the eldest of two siblings.
(Caroli) Before she became a major political figure, she
worked as a student leader in local schools. Before heading off to college, she
was a member of the Republican Party like her
parents. (1) She enrolled at Wellesley College, and ass a
college student Hillary’ political views began to change. When she
graduated from college in 1969 Hillary went to Yale Law School. (1) Hillary met Bill Clinton at Yale. After their graduation, they went their separate
ways. Hillary spent much of her time investigating the Watergate scandal and
shortly after the case closed she moved to Arkansas. (1) Soon after she married bill Clinton and began
to practice law. In
1978 her husband, Bill, was elected governor.
Later Hillary and Bill had their only child, Chelsea Victoria, in 1980. (2)
During Bill’s time as governor ,
Hillary continued her career as a lawyer and become more and more politicly
engaged. In Bill’s
presidential campaign, Hillary played a very
important role in the campaign as one of Bill’s chief advisers. (Caroli)
Hillary was heavily scrutinized during the campaign, and people believed that
she had her own agenda. Hillary’s
financial dealings during Bill’s time as governor seemed to be quite suspicious
as well. Hillary was also criticized for other matters, such as her role in
firing staff members and her involvement in what is known
as “cooking the books” during the Whitewater investigation. January
3, 2001, marks the day Hillary Clinton became a us senator. (Caroli) In 2007 Hillary announced that she would run for president in
2008. (2) She lost the ticket to front
runner Barack Obama, who went on the win the election. After his election,
Obama, selected Clinton to serve as secretary of state. (2) In 2010 Hillary
Clinton found herself involved in another conspiracy when the Clinton
foundation collected donation money for the survivors of the 2010 Haiti
earthquake. (D'Souza) Much scrutiny was
brought to the Clintons after it was discovered that much of the donation money
never made its way to Haiti. “In the following year, it was revealed that she
had used a private e-mail address and server while secretary of state, which
raised concerns over both security and government transparency.” (Caroli)
Recent concerns surrounding
Hillary and Bill Clinton have been brought to the spot light due to their
control of the Clinton foundation during its involvement with the 2010 Haiti
earthquake recovery efforts. Haiti is a small country located in the Caribbean
Sea. (“Haiti”) Haiti shares the small island of Hispaniola with the Dominican
Republic. (1) Haiti has a small population around 9 million people and lacks
major infrastructure.(1) At 4:53pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 one of the largest modern
earthquakes devastated the island nation of Haiti. (Pallardy)
The initial shock was recorded to have a magnitude of 7.0, which was followed
by two smaller aftershocks. (1) because of Haiti’s lack of building code and
poor infrastructure, buildings were total destroyed due to the forced generated
by the earthquake. (1) immediately after the disaster countries and
international aid organizations fled to the broken nation to lend a helping
hand, one of those organizations was the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton
foundation played perhaps one of the largest role in the recovery efforts after
the earthquake. “Bill Clinton was
the United Nations Representative for Aid in Haiti while Hillary was the
Secretary of State; meaning the Clintons controlled the flow of money to Haiti
more than anyone else.” (Times) By means of donations from the public “the Clinton Foundation raised more than $30 million for
Haiti relief projects.” (Lee) For quite
some time it seemed like relief efforts were moving along very successfully.
The Clintons had been spearheading the aid programs for Haiti and as one could
imagine, they received and enormous amount of love and support from the public,
that is until reports that Haiti was being left to suffer were released. It was
later found that Only 10 percent of donations
from the Clinton Foundation ended up founding relief efforts. (Times) The
Clintons had promised things like new roads, hospitals, and temporary housing
for the people of Haiti who were left in ruins after the massive earthquake. As
it turns out the Clintons failed to fulfill their promise to the people of
Haiti. If only 10% of donations that the Clinton Foundation received from
people around the world went to help the people of Haiti, then where did the
other 90% go? There are many conspiracies surrounding what the donation money
went towards and where it ended up. However, it is practically impossible to
prove any of the conspiracy theories, because there were virtually no money
trails left behind after the Haiti relief efforts. One of the most commonly
accepted theories amongst the public is that the Clintons used the donation
money to found projects in Haiti that served no benefit to the people of Haiti.
Luxury hotel projects paid by the Clinton
foundation promised construction jobs for Haitian
workers, but in reality, it meant that the Clintons funded personal project
with donation money and took advantage of cheap and underpaid labor. Other
conspiracy theories suggest that the Clintons have been slowly funneling money
into various bank accounts over time. Large transactions have appaired without
explanation or trace in many of the bank accounts that are affiliated with
either the Clinton Foundation or the Clintons themselves. “In May of 2015, Bill received a
$500,000 check in New York City.” (times) Events like this have brought raise
to suspicions and provide fuel for a number of different conspiracy theories.
All the conspiracy theories surrounding Hillary
Clinton’s role in recovery efforts after the 2010 Haiti earthquake are impossible
to confirm, because the Clintons have managed to leave no money trail. No one
truly knows what happened to the donations money and if it ever made its way to
the devastated nation of Haiti. Despite this Hillary Clinton has received a lot
of scrutiny about her involvement in the situation, especially since she has
been place at the for front of the recent presidential election.
