Marilyn Monroe Case by Kristani Rice

What happened to Marilyn Monroe? On August 5, 1962, movie actress Marilyn Monroe, thirty-six years old from Los Angeles, California, was reported dead in her home. She was found lying face down on her bed with her hands by her side ("Marilyn Monroe Is Found Dead.") There are several different theories that surround the death of Marilyn Monroe's death case:

1. She was killed by JFK.

2. She killed herself.

3. She was the victim of a Mafia Hit.

Let's examine Marilyn Monroe, the conspiracy theories of her death, and the likelihood that she was the victim of the Mafia Hit.

Character analysis

Marilyn Monroe was selfish, impatient, and insecure (Attachment 2). She was known for her beauty, but people was unaware of what was behind her beauty. Marilyn Monroe had some external conflicts due to the Bolender’s taught her to strive for perfection: in cleanliness, in modesty, and in virtue (Spoto 1993). Which probably led to Marilyn developing a tendency for "perfection striving", this is defined by Alfred Adler as "an individual's attempt to reach fictional goals by eliminating his or her perceived flaws" (Friedman 120).  Another thing she was famous for was being late for set or appointments because she would spend long periods of time doing her makeup and hair, and changing her outfits to make sure she was presentable.

To most people Marilyn was selfish, impatient and insecure. Yet there were many different sides of Marilyn Monroe she could be a funny, bubbly actress on screen, a vulnerable woman in need plagued by a hard childhood, and a sexually confident femme fatale looking for a strong man to look after her. One of the greatest advantages of this perspective is its ability to study personality over time, and see how it may change (Friedman 154). "I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." As evidenced by the quote above, Marilyn herself knew that her personality was not always the same from one situation to the next.

Who was Norma Jean Baker? Better known as Marilyn Monroe, picture an English, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh (Marilyn Monroe) golden girl: Natural brown hair dyed champagne blond hair, 5’5” tall and 117 pounds with brown eyes.

She was born June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California (Attachment 1). Marilyn was insecure throughout her life her childhood wasn’t very delightful because she was abandoned by her mother, and she never gained the life trait of “Trust” from the “Trust vs. Mistrust”. As she grew up, she was in a series of foster homes due to her mother being mentally unstable and also due to Grace because she could not afford to keep Norma Jean in her household

She had many mental struggles arising from a very difficult childhood and adulthood where she was typecast as the “hot, dumb blonde”. She developed an inferiority complex as "an individual's exaggerated feelings of personal incompetence that result from an overwhelming sense of helplessness or some experience that lives him or her powerless" (Friedman, 119). Growing up, her mother abandoned her, and she also had no father figure. Many other people in her life disappointed her, so she developed trust issues and was scared of abandonment. Since she had been abandoned many times, she often felt that there was something wrong with her that needed to be improved. The lack of consistent parental love led to a lot of anxiety for Marilyn throughout her life. Marilyn also had difficulties connecting with others in particular females since she never had a true female role model (Spoto, 1993; Friedman, 136).

Marilyn was a woman of many emotions, who tried to be perfect for every situation and tried to please everyone. She learned hard lessons throughout her life, and she knew that life wasn't always easy. Despite all this, she persevered and showed herself to be more resilient than anyone could have ever imagined. Marilyn Monroe overcame so many hardships, many of which were unknown due to how private she attempted to keep her personal life-regardless of what she bared on screen. Even though she was selfish, impatient, and insecure Marilyn Monroe is a woman who will never be forgotten.

Conspiracy theory description

The death case of Marilyn Monroe, three conspiracy theories are highlighted. One of the theories suggests that she was murdered by JFK. The other theory was that she killed herself. The last theory suggests that she was the victim of Mafia Hit.

Conspiracy 1: The first conspiracy theory suggests that she was murdered by JFK. An overwhelming amount of conspiracy theorists believe the Kennedys murdered Monroe, or that the Kennedys at least had a hand in her death. Monroe supposedly had affairs with President John F. Kennedy and then his brother Robert F. Kennedy after the president passed her along to him (Vultaggio, Maria). Supposedly the murder was conducted by giving her a lethal injection via enema, during the autopsy traces of pills wasn't found in her stomach or nothing to drink the pills with was discovered in the room. Also there wasn’t any vomit which usually happens when a person overdose.

Conspiracy 2: The second conclusion is that Marilyn Monroe killed herself due to being so depressed about her life. After midnight on August 5, 1962, her maid, Eunice Murray, noticed Monroe’s bedroom light on. When Murray found the door locked and Marilyn unresponsive to her calls, she called Monroe’s psychiatrist, Dr. Ralph Greenson, who gained access to the room by breaking a window. Entering, he found Marilyn dead, and the police were called sometime after. An autopsy found a fatal amount of sedatives in her system, and her death was ruled probable suicide (A&E Television Networks).

Conspiracy 3: The last conspiracy suggest that she was a victim of the Mafia Hit. According to extraordinary new claims Marilyn Monroe spent her last night alive at Frank Sinatra’s lodge with a Mafia boss. There the gangster – with whom she was allegedly in love – apparently tried to persuade her not to go public about her affair with President John F Kennedy (Daniel Bates). That afternoon, they picked up a screaming match between Bobby and Marilyn.

Roselli called at Marilyn’s house at 10pm on August 4, leaving the door unlocked so five hitmen could sneak in. “Slipping behind Marilyn, one of the men removed a chloroform-soaked washcloth from his bag,” Porter says. “The cloth was forced over her nose and mouth. Giancana had issued orders that her body was not to be bruised (Witheridge, Annette).” Marilyn was carried into the un-bugged guest cottage in her garden, where the thugs stripped her and administered an enema of barbiturates.

They bolted when they heard her housekeeper return (1). What happened over the next few hours remains the source of intense speculation but Porter claims Hollywood publicists and doctors were called long before the police and paramedics at 4.25am. In the time between the killing and police arriving on the scene, Marilyn had been moved from the cottage to the her bedroom in the main house(1).Jack Clemmons was the first police officer to arrive at the house just after 4.30am. “I felt I’d arrived at the scene of a murder,” he later said. “Her body was artfully arranged by someone. It was obvious to me that this was a staged event. "Her legs were arranged perfectly, as if she was getting ready to pose for a nude calendar. “I had been at suicide scenes before, especially when the victim overdosed on barbiturates (1). In the last minutes before consciousness is lost, there is a great pain and the body contorts.”

During research, a survey of 13 people out of 20 agree that the most likely scenario is that Marilyn Monroe was killed by Mafia. In which in my opinion I also agree Mafia is the reason of Marilyn Monroe death. The other two conspiracies are questionable but if she wouldn’t have killed herself and someone who she once dated wouldn’t kill her.

Conclusion

On August 5, 1962, movie actress Marilyn Monroe, thirty-six years old from Los Angeles, California, was reported dead in her home. There were three conspiracy theories that led to her death.

1. She was killed by JFK.

2. She killed herself.

3. She was the victim of a Mafia Hit.

Although people think that the Kennedys played a major part in her death the mystery that took place 54 years ago about Marilyn Monroe death still remain questionable.
