Ever wonder what would happen to
the United States (U.S.) in the event of a natural disaster or even a nuclear
war? Conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones, is one of many believers who support the
idea of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) camps and their role of
isolating the population. Although FEMA
may stand for the Federal Emergency Management Agency promoting “working
together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect
against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards” (About the Agency),
Alex Jones believes that these FEMA camps are more than just safe havens. Jones’
theory supports the idea that FEMA camps are a way to control the population
and reduce its numbers like concentration camps once did during Holocaust.
Let’s explore this theory about FEMA camps and how they can one day impact our
society.
Now, you might ask who is this Alex
Jones? Search ‘Alex Jones’ and you will discover adjectives such as radio show
host, writer, a father, and most of all… a conspiracy theorist. Jones is like
any other father who would take their kids to a museum, or the zoo, but when it
comes to his beliefs upon the government and his theories, he is another person
(Richardson).
Alex Jones’ is most popularly known
for his radio show broadcasted on the Genesis Communications Network streamed
across the U.S. and online (About Alex Jones). Here, he talks mainly about
political conspiracy theories such as 9/11, The Sandy Hook Massacre in
Connecticut, and FEMA Camps. Not everyone believes in his outrageous theories,
but those who support his theories are often those who not only share opinions
but those who share similar characteristics regarding the personality of a
conspiracy theorist. Conspiracy theorists are most often classified as open
minded, low educated, and coming from a low class income part of society (The
Independent). Jones is a conspiracy theorist not because he fits all of the
previous classifications but also because he doesn’t believe what media
portrays to be the truth. Instead Jones comes up with an alternate truth that
society has no idea about such as the truth behind FEMA camps and how they will
actually eventually play the same role that concentration camps once did during
the Holocaust (About Alex Jones). In Jones’ radio show, he is constantly down
grading those who do not agree with him. In an interview with Alex Jones, John
Richardson questions Jones’ work ethic and ideas. Richardson says, “Jones
believes everything he says” (Richardson). Jones’ interview also gives
Richardson the ability to come up with his own theory that Jones’ is honestly
embarrassed to talk about himself more than he is talking about theories after
having an influenced childhood where he seemed to have lost his ways thus
contributing a lot of his time as a street-fighting teenager.
For example, after the tragic event
of the Boston Marathon explosion, Jones blamed the U.S. Government as the
number one suspect. Doing so, Jones enraged the entire country with what they
thought were false accusations (Richardson). But, when he is asked about himself,
he does not respond well;
instead Jones then brought up the subject of FEMA camps making claims
such as calling it a “joke”. Jones said that the government was going to:
“take freedom and offer this lie that the
government's there to protect you and CAN protect you, but A, it can't protect
you, and B, it doesn't WANT to protect you. It's just a complete fraud! Look at
Katrina! Look at Hurricane Sandy! FEMA put up signs saying, "Closed this
week for bad weather!" IT'S ALL A JOKE!” (Richardson).
Jones’
statement suggests that FEMA does not go through with what they promote when
they say that they are “working together to build…respond to, recover from, and
mitigate all hazards” (About the Agency).
Alex Jones is a famous radio show
host, writer, father, and most importantly, a conspiracy theorist who never
gives up or shares a single doubt that he is wrong. Jones’ creative mind has
led him to become famous for his conspiracy theories in government, especially
the what he thinks is the truth behind FEMA camps.
In the event of a natural disaster
or nuclear bombing, America questions what will happen, and that’s where Alex
Jones raises his voice.
Conspiracy theorist Jones believes
that the lives of Americans are not safe in the hands of the government if they
were all we had to live on. The organization FEMA stands for working together
to keep everyone safe, but Jones seems to think otherwise. Jones believes that
FEMA camps will not only give Americans a safe haven in the event of a
disaster, but also take advantage of their power by controlling the population
themselves to rebuild the United States. Jones’ biggest conspiracy theory is
that the governments reason for building outlet malls around the U.S. was to
eventually use them as concentration camps, camps that were used during the
Holocaust.
As written in an article by Stefan
Stanford, Stanford writes that, “we have never had more clear evidence that
'the bottom has fallen out' and 'we have reached the event horizon',” (FEMA
Camp Malls Going Up Across America As Bottom Falls Out And We Reach The Event
Horizon),
supports Jones’ theory because Stanford points out the low points in America
and what were are coming to. Stanford and Jones both give notice to the blue
prints and layouts of the outlet malls placed across the U.S. and question
their layout. Why must there be 20 towers at each corner? Why are there gated
entrances? Why are they built on such a wide and open piece of land? And
finally, what could this all possibly mean?
Jones’ remains strong willed to
this day in hope to bring light to this theory and broadcast his answers to the
previous questions to the world and expose the real use of the outlet malls.
The outlets are in the middle of an open piece of land, they all have some sort
of what looks like can be a guard post, and some do have gated entrances and
that is all to regulate population and ‘protect’ what is inside from the
outside intruders. Everything adds up. But to this day the question still
remains, why?
In a survey of 50, 25% of
participants agreed the government has and still is lying to the U.S. about the
real role of the FEMA organization. These conspiracy believers also agree that
they do not believe what the government promotes. As you can see, everybody has
their own ideas and opinions, but there is only one truth and we can only hope
that one day it will get out.
Alex Jones continues to this day to
promotes his conspiracy theories. Jones’ talks about how the outlet malls will
one day play a big role on our lives, and he doesn’t mean more shopping.
Instead, Jones’ tone portrays fear and curiosity. Jones’ theory of FEMA camps
is that of playing the same role a concentration camp once did during the
Holocaust. Jones believes that if a natural disaster were to occur, the
government would send “help” that will pick up any surviving citizens and take
them to these camps where they will be “safe.” Even today, people wonder, what
will happen? What will the government do for this nation in a moment of
distress?
