Imagine if you died before something
famous happened to you and your son went through the same thing. Have you ever
wondered how two members from the same family died before seeing their famous movies?
Bruce Lee, also known as Lee Jun-Fan, died July 20, 1973. His son, Brandon, had
died, too, on March 31, 1993, only 20 years after his father, which is a bit
young to have died. This famous martial artist and his son had been killed
right before their famous movies. After these two had passed away multiple
theories had begun to pop up. The first theory of their death was a curse
passed down from father to son. The second theory was did the wife and mother
have a role in the death of Bruce and Brandon, and thirdly if he had died by
medication. Let’s take a look at the theories, if there’s a possibility of a
curse and the mother’s possibility of a role in the death of Bruce and Brandon.
Bruce wasn’t just an actor he was also a
dancer, martial artist and a person who loved to work out. (“Bruce Lee
Biography”). All three of these factors had self-discipline; at a young age
when he was a teenager he was picked on by British students and made fun of for
his Chinese background, externally and internally. This event had caused Bruce
to hone his passion for justice which led to the learning of kung Fu. He had
joined a gang before kung Fu to protect himself. He was taught by Yip man, a
known martial artist in china to have taught wing Chun (“Yip-Man Biography”).
He later went back to Seattle, Washington to live with his friends. He was a
devoted teacher, showing love for dance. An example of this was when he won the
Cha Cha competition in Hong Kong. A little fact about Bruce’s passion for
dancing was that he kept a notebook full of Cha Cha steps and studied dancing
vigorously (Hong Wrong). He was a Martial artist in Seattle, some say the best,
but he loved all of his students like a clan
His next major step towards a known
movie actor was the role in the TV show “Green Hornet” as the sidekick Kato,
and then a special appearance in TV shows such as Ironside and Longstreet(1).
Bruce was one of those people who loved to work out; he was devoted but
suffered a major spinal injury (1). He took some time to recover from this
injury, but during this time, he wrote a basis. It was an idea for a Buddhist
monk TV series called Kung Fu.
Unfortunately, he did not get the role
in Kung Fu; it was given to David Carradine, because they believed that an
Asian actor wouldn’t pull in audience as a lead character (“Bruce Lee
Biography”). Bruce, offended by this stereotypical prevalence, left L.A. to go
back to Hong Kong (1). While in Hong Kong, Lee had received an offer in signing
two film contracts, eventually bringing his family back into Hong Kong (1).
Bruce was now a major movie star sensation across all of Asia, breaking
records, from the movie “Chinese Connection” in 1972 (1). Sadly Bruce had died
in Hong Kong, just a month before his top movie, “Enter the Dragon,” was
released (1). Though he had not reached stardom yet in America, he was
determined on the success of this movie, “Enter the Dragon”. Some people
thought Bruce wouldn’t earn much money from the film, due to his being an Asian
actor, but they were wrong. When Enter the Dragon was released, it was said to
have 1 million dollars and, went on to have 200 million dollars. (1). Now after
Lee’s movie and death, he has made Asian-American actors possible to have roles
in movies. Conspiracy Theories
In
the mysterious death case of Bruce Lee, there were three theories addressed.
The first theory shows that there might be a curse that has been passed down in
the family. Having one of the reasons of Brandon’s related death to his father
Bruce. However, the second involves his wife; Did Bruce’s wife had a role in
his death, and thirdly did Bruce’s death had any link up with a medication
The first conspiracy theory suggests
that a curse was passed down in his family; this curse supposedly had taken his
older brother and would eventually claim his son. To add emphasis, the family
had placed a mirror at Bruce’s house to ward off evil spirit (The Last Dragon
Tribute). Some may not believe there’s a curse, but what are the coincidence of
a series of event that lead to the accidental of Brandon lees death by a real
bullet? Some people just need some way of an answer and if it lines up some may
believe there is a curse, but what are the odds (The Last Dragon Tribute).
The second conspiracy theories
suggest that Bruce lees widow; Linda Caldwell lee, played a role in his death.
According to an investigation report, Linda was never interested in any
investigation of her husband’s death or her son’s death (SCEPCOP). All that was
shown was that she was only eager to collect the insurance company, showing no
care and quickly closing the case (SCEPCOP). It seemed like she was only there
to collect the large compensation of their money, after all what mother just
cares about money and not the truth behind her husband and sons death.
Something sounds fishy. Like a few days after Bruce had died mysteriously,
Linda was very quick to say that there was no foul play in the death of Bruce,
she didn’t even let an investigation on Bruce’s death did not happen nor when
Brandon was shot. Linda just appeared to accept the huge compensation of cash
(SCEPCOP).
The Third conspiracy theory was what
most people had believed, if Bruce had died from a medication. Supposedly, he
had taken painkillers called equagesic to ease the pain of his body and his
headache (The Last Dragon Tribute). Bruce, little did he know this would be the
cause of his death. The pain killer that he was taking ended up causing a
cerebral edema in easier term known as brain swelling. It was caused by a hyper
sensitive reaction due to the muscle relaxant (The last Dragon tribute).
Why does the theory of Linda seem
more believable then the curse that most people have seem to have post a lot, I
guess it’s because of the world we live in most people seem to take money even
when someone close passes away?
A
Survey was taken:
Twenty
people
15/20
Out
of the twenty, 15 believed he was killed by medication leaving
75%
believed he was killed by medication
5/20
The
other 5 believed his wife played a role in his death, or the curse had some
work in it.
25%
believed his wife played a role in his death, or the curse had ended up killing
him off
Currently, searching for his real
reason in his death, they had reached a conclusion for his death; his death was
from a medication.
Conclusion
After
viewing Bruce lees Death before his most famous movie, three conspiracies had
been left to think about:
1. Was there a curse passed down in the
family that caused Bruce’s death?
2. Did Linda have a role in Bruce’s death?
3. Was Bruce killed by medication?
In
the end, after years of investigating on a variety of Bruce’s conspiracies of
what the really cause his death. The conclusion for his real death was
discovered and came to a closure. His death was to be caused by a reaction from
his medication. However, the facts have been proven, but some people still
believe that there was a curse to all of this that can’t accept the real truth
or is this medication conspiracy added to be another cover up? It’s very likely
his death was by medication.
